Barcelona in the summer, a city worth discovering.
Summer on the beach and at the pools
The more than 4.5 kilometres of beach are very much appreciated by Barcelonians and visitors. This is true throughout the year, but particularly in summer, when the beaches are full of people reading, playing sport, walking their dogs, listening to music, or just relaxing.
There are six beaches, each one different, but all with the same services and commodities. There are restaurants, stalls selling drinks and ice-cream, rental of umbrellas, deckchairs and sports equipment, as well as public toilets and changing rooms, clothes lockers, showers, drinking fountains and help and information points.

Approximately 1,100 m long, together with the Sant Sebastià beach, Barceloneta is one of the biggest in Barcelona, and it is also one of the oldest and most traditional beach in the city. It is a favourite amongst our foreign visitors and it is commonly used by youth groups and for school activities. Due to its location and proximity to the metro and many bus lines, the majority of its users get to the beach by public transport.
Its dimensions make it a suitable beach for leisure equipment, such as volleyball courts, a table soccer area on the Eastern side, in front of the Hospital del Mar; a children's play area on the Western side of the beach, beside the Gas breakwater, where there is also a ping-pong table and a gym area. The Barceloneta beach is also equipped with a skating area.
Nova Icària Beach is 400 m long and is situated in the centre of the city's coastline. A significant amount of the people who frequent Nova Icària live outside Barcelona and many of the are foreigners.
Together with the Bogatell beach, Nova Icària is the beach where visitors stay the longest, possibly because it is considered one of the quietest in the city, frequented mostly by families with children and also groups of friends. Many users go there on foot.
This is one of Barcelona's most diversely equipped beaches, with equipment for several different activities, a game area, a ping-pong table beside the Bogatell breakwater and two volleyball courts at the Olympic Port end.
The Mar Bella beach has a designated nudist beach area.

Summer at the museums
All Barcelona museums
Do you want to live with a Roman family? Would you like to create an Aztec protective totem? Would you like to see how cathedral stonemasons work? Would you like to make a noise like an elephant, a lion or a mouse?
Barcelona museums don't stop in summer: they have a whole range of activities for you to learn how to enjoy yourself and enjoy yourself while learning.
Summertime: a good time to see museums in a different way. To spend more time there. Or to go with the children and take advantage of the activities and workshops specially designed for them.
