Port Olímpic

The Port Olímpic was built for the 1992 Olympic Games, and was key factor in the competitions held during the Games that required this type of facility. Its size means that it can accommodate a larger number of sports craft and it has a wide range of restaurants, bars and establishments which furnish Barcelona with some of its most intense nightlife.
Also to be found there are Barcelona's beaches and the Barceloneta district, the city's old fishermen and sailors' neighbourhood and an important example of Baroque urbanism.
The former General Store of the Port del Puerto is nowadays the Palau de Mar (Museo de Historia de Catalunya/Catalan History Museum).
